BUFT to Lead Advanced RMG Skills Development Under EPB Training Initiative
The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) has signed separate agreements with BGMEA, BKMEA and BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) to strengthen workforce development in Bangladesh's readymade garment (RMG) sector. Under the three-year initiative (FY2026–27 to FY2028–29), a total of 22,815 workers, employees and mid-level officials will receive industry-focused training funded by the Ministry of Commerce.
While BGMEA and BKMEA will conduct five-day training programmes for workers, BUFT will deliver a six-month postgraduate diploma programme for mid-level industry professionals, focusing on advanced technical expertise, compliance, and managerial competencies aligned with global apparel industry standards. The initiative is designed to boost productivity, accelerate the adoption of modern technologies, strengthen compliance and rules-of-origin knowledge, and enhance the global competitiveness of Bangladesh's apparel sector. The agreement was signed at the EPB headquarters in the presence of Mr. Md Ruhul Amin, Director General of the Export Promotion Bureau and Head of CMC; Mr. Mahmud Hasan Khan, President of BGMEA; Mr. Fazlee Shamim Ehsan, Executive President of BKMEA; and Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice Chancellor (Designate) of BUFT, along with senior officials from EPB, BGMEA, BKMEA and BUFT.
