Permanent Campus
BUFT’s permanent campus is built on a land of 1.66 acres, acquired from university’s own funding, approved by RAJUK on 11 November 2012. The 10-storied new state-of-the-art academic building has a total 500,000 square feet space residing a state-of-art library, auditorium, multi-purpose hall, seminar rooms, 72 state-of-art classrooms and 52 laboratories. In addition, there is a swimming pool, sports gymnasium, a tennis court, cafeteria, indoor sport rooms, prayer rooms and many more for the faculties and students. There is also a 10-room guest house on the roof top of the building to accommodate foreign visiting dignitaries and faculties of our visiting affiliated universities faculties. BUFT is now a home to 6000 students and has the total land surface of 6 acres. BUFT campus has full Wi-Fi enabled set-ups offering access to secure internet for the students and faculty. This allows learning to move outside the classroom where students can discuss, learn and grow.
Classrooms
In the 21st century, information is the most important resource and knowledge management is the most crucial function in an organization. BUFT provides the necessary infrastructure to collate and disseminate this critical input. There are seventy-two state-of-art classrooms equipped with multimedia projectors and sound systems. The seating arrangement, lighting and ventilation systems are world class and the central air-condition system of the classrooms guarantees further comfort for the students.
Labs, Workshops & Studios
Fashion Illustration Studios
Fashion Design Department maintains fashion illustration studios. The infrastructure provides an environment that allows the students of this domain to thoroughly apply and contextualized concepts and processes of realizing fashion drawing. These labs are the breeding ground for heightened creativity, unique approach and innovative perspectives in relation to fashion design.
Pattern Making & Draping Studios
Department of FDT maintains pattern making & draping studios. These studios are stocked with specialized pattern making tables & dress forms. The infrastructure provides an environment that allows the students to rigorously apply and contextualized concepts and processes of realizing fashion design and garments making. These studios are the cradle for heightened creativity, unique approach and innovative perspectives in relation to fashion design and garment making.
Photography Studio
Photography studio, maintained by the Fashion Design Department, includes the most advanced hardware used by the domain experts. It is equipped with state-of-art suspended Elinchrom lights and motorized backdrops, various accessories like diffusing materials, extensions and radio triggers which enhance the learning experience for students of this domain. The infrastructure provided not only helps students develop awareness of old and new photography practices but also assists them in realizing ambitious production based projects.
CAD Studios
In this era of digital transformations, the success of fashion professional rests on their ability to integrate fashion technology and information technology in a meaningful way. The information technology infrastructure is playing a key role in providing an IT-enabled learning environment, with the objectives of developing computer savvy, well-rounded professionals. Fashion Design & Technology Department maintains Computer Aided Design studios thereby integrating IT with the academics. The CAD studios are well equipped with state-of-art equipment like Desktops, Plotters, Digitizers, Image Scanners, Wide Format Printers, Sound Mixers, Digital Cameras, etc. BUFT campus is covered by the Agni and Amra Network Corporations with connecting speed of 125 Mbps. All academic programs at BUFT offer IT applications as part of their curriculum. CAD studios impart teaching inputs in industry specific CAD software (Lectra, Gerber, etc.) for apparel design, pattern design, marker making, fashion design, etc.
Surface Ornamentation Studio
Fashion Design Department maintains surface ornamentation studio which mainly focuses on ornamentation-based design problem solving. The class environment allows students explore techniques of surface ornamentation to designs. Students get the opportunity to learn the styles of ornamentation based on specific culture which develop unique forms of decoration, or modified ornament from other culture. The studio infrastructure covers tools and equipment to facilitate a variety of traditional and industrial techniques.
Spinning Lab
Spinning Lab is maintained by the Textile Engineering Department. The state-of-art lab comprises a whole miniature size spinning line set-up. The infrastructure provides an environment that allows the students to rigorously apply and contextualize concepts and processes of realizing yarns. The lab provides a stimulating learning environment where the students test their theoretical knowledge by gaining practical insight and exposure.
Fabric Structure Analysis & Design Lab
Fabric Structure Analysis & Design Lab is maintained by the Textile Engineering and Management Department. The state-of-art lab provides an environment that allows the students to rigorously apply and contextualize concepts and processes of realizing woven and knit fabric structures and structural properties. The lab provides a stimulating learning environment where the students test their theoretical knowledge by gaining practical insight and exposure.
Weaving Lab
Textile Engineering Department maintains a weaving lab that is equipped with a miniature scale single yarn sizing machine, a cone winding machine, a pirn winding machine, a warping machine, handlooms, a power driven shuttle (tappet shedding), a power driven shuttle (dobby shedding) loom and a rapier loom and manually operated jacquards, offering an effective integration of theoretical and practical inputs to students. The infrastructure provides a creative space to enquiry and exploration from an individual perspective in relation to materials, processes and methods within the domain of woven structures.
Knitting Labs
The Department of Knitwear Manufacturing & Technology maintains three knitting labs; Circular Knitting Lab, Hand-flat Sweater Knitting Lab and Advanced Knitting Lab. These labs are equipped with state-of-art machinery required to familiarize with industry set-ups. These include specialized manual and computerized machines for seaming and finishing fine-gauge circular knit fabric as well as flat-knitting and linking machines facilitating an understanding of CAD. The labs provide a stimulating learning environment where the students test their theoretical knowledge by gaining practical insight and exposure. The infrastructure provides the students with an opportunity to explore practically and develop design possibilities in their fields.
Dyeing & Printing Labs
Dyeing & Printing Labs are maintained by the Textile Engineering Department. Three state-of-art dyeing and printing labs are equipped with modern machinery and equipment including sample dyeing machines, thermosol dyeing machine, screen preparation facilities, printing machines, and drying & curing equipment. The lab provides a stimulating learning environment where the students test their theoretical knowledge by gaining practical insight and exposure. The infrastructure allows the students to understand, appreciate and learn different dyeing and printing techniques.
Textile Testing & Quality Control Labs
Textile Testing & Quality Control Labs are maintained by Textile Engineering and Management Department. BUFT realizes the significance of the role of technology in modern technical education. The testing & quality control labs not only support the classroom but also enhance academic deliverance by providing practical insight to the students. The university has developed well-stocked textile testing & quality control labs which include fiber identification, yarn diagnosis, count & CSP tests, fabric strength, pilling, color fastness tests, light fastness test and various other tests and identification facilities.
ACT Lab
In this era of digital transformations, the success of textile and knitting professionals rests on their ability to integrate such technologies and information technology in an eloquent approach. The information technology infrastructure is playing a key role in delivering an IT-enabled learning environment, with the objectives of developing computer know-how, well-rounded professionals. Textile Engineering Department maintains Application of Computer in Textile Lab thereby integrating IT with the academics. The ACT lab is well equipped with state-of-art equipment like desktops, image scanners, wide format printers, sound mixers, etc. ACT lab is covered by a full-time Wi-Fi connection with a speed of 125 Mbps. Textile Engineering and Knitwear Manufacturing & Technology programs at BUFT offer IT applications as part of their curriculum. ACT lab imparts teaching inputs in industry specific software for Bale Management, textile design, Easy Knit, Starfish Knit Design & Simulation, etc. Apart from the specialized industry specific software, ACT lab inputs for photo imaging and editing, enterprise resource planning, production planning and scheduling, statistical analysis and integrated into the academic curriculum.
Textile Research Lab
BUFT realizes the implication of the role of advanced researches in modern technical education. The state-of-art textile research lab certainly enhances academic deliverance by providing advanced practical insight to the students. The university has developed a well-prepared textile research lab which include a miniature scale BOD & COD machine, a melt spinning machine, an eletro-spinning machine and a modern spectrophotometer. The infrastructure not only allows the students to understand, appreciate and learn different advanced textile operations but also provide an opportunity for the faculty members to conduct further researches.
Apparel Manufacturing Labs
BUFT campus is equipped with four specialized labs specific to garment technology and are maintained by the Apparel Manufacturing & Technology Department. State-of-art machinery of these labs provide a complete learning environment to students creating a pathway to unmatched career opportunities in the apparel industry. Two hundred and fifty power driven automatic sewing machines, a band knife cutting instrument, an embroidery machine, a fully automatic fusing machine, a button holing and button attaching machine are some of the most advanced equipment of these labs. The infrastructure provides an ideal sensitization to contemporary practices in apparel manufacturing technology methods and techniques.
Mechanical Workshop
Mechanical Workshop is maintained by the Industrial Engineering Department. The lab is equipped with drilling, welding, and grinding facilities. Lathe machine provides students an opportunity to perform various operations including cutting, drilling, knurling, deformation, facing and turning practically. The lab provides a stimulating learning environment where the students test their theoretical knowledge by gaining practical insight and exposure. The infrastructure allows the students to understand, appreciate and learn different mechanical engineering operation.
Electrical & Electronics Engg. Lab
Electric Circuit Lab is maintained by the Engineering Department. The state-of-art lab provides an environment that allows the students to rigorously apply, contextualized concepts and processes of realizing different electrical circuits and electronic items’ configurations. The lab allows a stimulating learning environment where the students test their theoretical knowledge by gaining practical understanding and experience. This knowledge will not only serve their educational purposes but also fulfil their job fields experience.
EEE Machine Lab
EEE Machine Lab is maintained by the Engineering Department. The lab provides a stimulating learning environment where the students of this domain test their theoretical knowledge by gaining practical perception and exposure to different electric machines, their working principles and techniques. We also provide them factory visit to gain hands-on experience.
CSE Labs
In this era of digital transformations, the success of any technical professional rests on their ability to amalgamate technical know-how and information technology in a meaningful way. The information technology infrastructure in CSE labs is playing a key role in providing an IT-enabled learning environment, with the objectives of developing computer savvy, well-rounded professionals. Computer Science & Engineering Department maintains CSE labs thereby integrating IT with the academics. The CSE labs are well equipped with state-of-art equipment like desktops, image scanners, wide format printers, sound mixers, digital cameras, etc. CSE labs are covered by full-time Wi-Fi Network with connecting speed of 125 Mbps. All academic programs at BUFT offer computer applications as part of their curriculum. CSE labs impart teaching inputs in basic computer application such as Microsoft packages, statistics and data analysis application software like Origin Pro, MatLab, SPSS, etc. Apart from the basic application and data analysis application software, CSE labs input for animation, 2D/3D modeling using, SolidWorks, photo imaging and editing using Photoshop, Light room software, graphic design application software like Illustrator, In Design and web programming such as C+, C++, HTML, CSS, PHP, Python, and integrated into the academic curriculum. The university promotes brilliance without boundaries. Students from different disciplines are encouraged to use CSE labs across disciplines. This integrated approach to learning promotes interactivity, arriving at one creative language. The university invests in the latest equipment to introduce the updated teaching practices to the class set.
Physics and Chemistry Labs
Physics and Chemistry Labs are maintained by the Science Department. The lab provides a stimulating learning environment where the students of this domain test their theoretical knowledge by gaining practical insight and exposure to different tests, measurement and identification techniques. Students from different disciplines are encouraged to use physics and chemistry labs across disciplines. This integrated approach to learning promotes interactivity, arriving at one creative language.
BUFT Language Lab
Learning a new language just by `studying the theory is not enough to guarantee a successful language learning experience. Language labs provide practice in an entertaining and interactive way to acquire the four main language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. Therefore, language labs are highly valued at educational institutions because they offer students a structured learning environment that is successful and reliable. New technologies are increasingly more present in classrooms as they facilitate the teacher’s role in creating a more attractive learning environment for the student and can offer their students more practice hours and up to date exercise than can be found in language books. BUFT English Language Lab facilitates classroom engagement and interaction via computer-based exercise and activities to maximize language immersion. The lab provides a very different experience from the traditional system of teaching and learning languages, offering more advanced features and functionalities.
Amphitheatre, Auditorium & Playground
BUFT aims at providing an exceptional student experience. The university promotes academic inclusiveness but with an equal focus on student development through co-curricular opportunities. At BUFT campus, the amphitheater is the hub of all student activity. Interesting architecture and high-end infrastructure allows students to indulge in a variety of activities in the amphitheatre. Rag day, dance recitals, music shows are mostly conducted in the amphitheatre.
Emphasizing on all round development of its students, the university houses state-of-art halls and auditoriums. The halls and auditoriums provide the venue for peer and industry interaction through talk show, seminars, exhibitions and display. The university also has a playground which provides the environment for students to engage in elements that develop cognitive, social and physical skills. The university arranges inter-departmental football tournaments and cricket tournament at its own playground every year.
Student Facilities
Canteen
BUFT campus houses a cafeteria that provides fresh, hygienic and healthy food at reasonable rates. The availability of various foods in a friendly atmosphere makes the cafeteria an ideal place for students to relax and interact with their peers. The cafeteria is Wi-Fi enabled, allowing the students to utilize their free time to the fullest.
Health Care & Other
Medical aid is available on campus. BUFT campus provides an infirmary/sickbay to its students. A doctor and nurses are available to attend to general medical concerns of the students.
Against Ragging
Ragging in BUFT is strictly banned and any student indulging in ragging is liable to be punished appropriately, which may include expulsion from the university.
