Program Overview

The Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP) is a strategic initiative designed to strengthen the capacity of the workforce to meet evolving industry demands, particularly in key economic growth sectors. Anchored in a vision of inclusive and industry-driven skills development, SICIP aims to enhance productivity, promote innovation, and foster economic competitiveness through a responsive skills ecosystem. The Skills for Industry Competitiveness and Innovation Program (SICIP) at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) is an advanced industry-academia initiative aimed at strengthening the employability and innovative capacity of Bangladesh's workforce, especially in the RMG and textile sectors. Implemented in partnership with the Finance Division of the Ministry of Finance under the Skills for Employment Investment Program (SEIP), this program is designed to bridge the gap between industry requirements and academic learning.

  • Advanced Courses: Specialized training in areas such as Circular Fashion, 3D Fashion Simulation (CLO 3D), Artificial Intelligence and Sustainability standards.
  • Capacity Building: Faculty development, institutional strengthening, and digital infrastructure enhancement.

  • Inclusivity Focus: Encouragement of participation from women and marginalized communities.

Eligibility Criteria

The enrollment for the advanced courses will include a mix of current managers and recent graduates. The distribution between these two groups will depend on factors such as the availability of suitable candidates, preferences for industry professionals and female candidates, and other relevant considerations.

Distinct eligibility criteria will be established for selecting candidates from industry professionals and fresh graduates.

For Industry Professionals:
  • Candidates should be active, proficient managers with at least two years of experience in RMG, Textile and related sectors, and a commitment to continuing their career in the RMG sector.
  • Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree in the field of textile, fashion, apparel or knitwear manufacturing with a minimum CGPA of 2.5 from a recognized public or private university. The academic requirement may be waived based on professional experience, certified by the employer.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to completing the advanced course program, including evening, weekend, and weekday sessions, alongside their regular office responsibilities.
  • Full attendance and completion of all academic requirements, including coursework, throughout the program is essential.
  • The eligibility criteria for candidates with vast industrial experience may be relaxed.
For Fresh Graduates:
  • Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized public or private university in the field of textile, fashion, apparel or knitwear manufacturing, with a minimum CGPA of 2.5.
  • Applicants should show a strong interest in contributing to the RMG sector.
  • Full attendance and commitment to meeting all academic requirements throughout the program is necessary.
  • Additional eligibility criteria may be established in accordance with SICIP and BUFT guidelines.
