BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) observed the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking by organizing an awareness rally and leaflet distribution program on 28 June 2026 at its campus. The event aimed to raise awareness among students and the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse, alcohol, and tobacco, while promoting a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. Speakers emphasized that drug addiction poses serious threats to physical and mental health, contributes to social problems, and increases the risk of infectious diseases such as hepatitis and HIV through injectable drug use.

The program was attended by the Vice-Chancellor, Treasurer, Deans, faculty members, officials, and students of BUFT. They reaffirmed their commitment to creating awareness among young people and called for collective efforts from families, educational institutions, and society to build a drug-free nation. The event was coordinated by Dr. Shahin Hossain, Associate Professor, Department of Environmental Science, BUFT.
