Scholarship Policies

BUFT offers a wide range generous scholarships on the following policies:

  1. Merit Scholarship during Admission:

The following students will be awarded merit scholarship (tuition fee waiver) at entry level (only in first semester) in all under graduate programs:

  1. Candidate scoring GPA 5.00 (excluding 4th subject) in the most recent SSC & HSC examinations will get 50% waiver on tuition fees.

 

  1. Candidate scoring 5 'A' in 'O' Level (at one sitting) and 3 'A' in 'A' Level will get 50% waiver on tuition fees.

 

  1. Candidate scoring GPA 5.00 with 4th subject in SSC and HSC examination will get 25% special waiver on tuition fees in the first semester.

 

  1. BUFT graduates, seeking admission in the MBA/M.Sc./MA programs with CGPA 4.00, will be awarded 25% waiver (tuition fee waiver) upon his/her admission.

 

  1. On the basis of admission test result Top 3 (Three) scorers in the Admission Test for all subjects (with minimum score of 75%) of BUFT will be awarded 50% waiver on their tuition fees.

Above waiver rate also shall be applicable for a student in following semesters subject to maintenance of at least GPA and CGPA =>3.75.

 

  1. Program wise Special Tuition fee waiver:

In order to attract the students, the following program will be given special tuition fee waiver as follows:

  1. 50% waiver for Environmental Science (ES) for the 1st to 8th
  2. 25% waiver for B.Sc. in Knitwear Engineering (KE) for 1st to 8th
  3. 20% waiver for B.Sc. in Industrial Engineering (IE) for 1st to 8th
  4. 25% waiver for B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) for 1st to 8th
  5. 40% waiver for B.A Hons in English in 1st Semester and 20% waiver for 2nd to 8th
  6. 20% waiver for Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) for 1st to 8th
  7. 10% waiver for those coming from other universities and 15% waiver for those coming from BUFT in MBA program for 1st to 4th
  8. 20% waiver for M. Sc. in Textile, M.Sc. in Fashion for 1st semester and 15% waiver for those coming from BUFT for 2nd to 3rd

 

  1. BUFT students of the Post Graduate/Undergraduate programs will be entitled to get tuition fee waiver as described below:
  2. BUFT will follow UGC policy of 100% waiver to be awarded to the children of the Freedom Fighters and Poor but Meritorious students of remote areas of Bangladesh subject to fulfilment of the following conditions:

Children of Freedom Fighter must apply formally enclosing the following documents as per requirements of Ministry of Liberation War Affairs:

  • Attested copy of Shamoik Shonod of freedom fighter.
  • Attested copy of Bangladesh Gazette of the freedom fighter.
  • Attested copy of Mukbarta of the freedom fighter.
  • Attested copy of the National ID of freedom fighter.

For the poor but meritorious students following documents to be submitted to BUFT authority:

  • Proof of financial condition of parent from union parishad Chairman.
  • Number of children(s) of parent.
  • Properties of parents duly certified by union parishad chairman.
  • Application for waiver from parent of poor student.
  1. 25% tuition fee waiver shall be awarded to the Siblings/Couple and Tribal Students at entry level subject to submission of following documents:
  • Siblings student: National ID card of Parents.
  • Couple student: Registered marriage certificate.
  • Tribal student: Certificate from tribal chief.

Students have to maintain at least GPA and CGPA => 3.0 in each semester final examination of BUFT to continue with 25% waiver.

  1. 10% waiver on tuition fees for the female students only at entry level to attract more female students.
  2. Son and daughter of BUFT Alumni will get 10% waiver on tuition fees only at entry level.

 

  1. Tuition fee waiver for Faculty members, Officers, staffs and theirs children

BUFT faculty members, officers and staff and theirs children shall get 50% waiver on tuition fee if they qualify for study in BUFT. Chairman of BUFT may extend waiver up to 100% for children of support staffs (i.e. Oss, Cleaner, Guard and drivers) by his discretionary power.

 

 

 

  1. Waiver on Special Ground:

Tuition fee waiver on special ground shall be awarded under following consideration by the Chairman of Board of Trustees of BUFT:

  1. Tuition fee waiver to the students against each application will be considered on special ground at the discretion of the Chairman, Board of Trustees of BUFT. Waiver percentage (%) shall be decided by the Chairman of BUFT.
  2. National Level Performer can avail 50% tuition fee waiver as special waiver for all semester if he/she passes all the exams in each semester. Proof of the National level achievements and performances has to be produced.
  3. Waiver as per recommendations of BOT members of BUFT: Waiver percentage on tuition fees shall be decided by the Chairman of BUFT unless otherwise stated by the BOT.

 

  1. Waiver on Academic Result in each Semester

Tuition fee waiver list on academic excellence with reference to target results (GPA=>3.75) shall be prepared and recommend by the Dean of each Faculty and Head of the Departments. Tuition fee waiver recommendations shall be reviewed and finalize by a waiver review committee of BUFT, before placing it to BUFT chairman for approval.

 

  1. Processing of Tuition Fee Waiver Application:
  2. A student who shall get merit waiver shall not get special discount or any other waiver.
  3. Students must apply for tuition fee waiver within a given time-frame as decided by the BUFT authority, Applicants should apply in a given format (to be collected from the Registrar's Section/ concerned department) along with necessary papers/documents as applicable. The Tuition fee waiver applications of the students will be processed as per the following guidelines:
  4. The minimum Grade required for a student to be eligible for merit Tuition Fee Waiver application, should be =>3.75 (GPA/CGPA).
  5. The minimum Grade required for a student to be eligible for Tuition Fee Waiver application should be 3.0 (CGPA) for faculty member/officer of the BUFT/BGMEA members employee.
  6. The tuition fee waiver applications of the students should be processed in every semester through the committees formed as per the recommendation of the Academic Council meeting (5th) held on 10th November 2015. List of students awarded waiver and scholarship should be submitted to the BOT for information.
  7. The concerned Heads of the Departments should recommend the tuition fee waiver applications of the students through his dean of faculties as per the following guideline:
  8. GPA 3.75-3.79 will get 20% waiver
  9. GPA 3.80-3.89 will get 30% waiver

iii. GPA 3.90-3.99 will get 40% waiver

  1. GPA 4.00 will get 50% waiver

 

 

Discontinuation of Scholarship/Tuition Fee Waiver:

  1. Scholarship/Tuition fee waiver for the BUFT students of the Postgraduate and Under graduate programs may be discontinued under the following circumstances:
  2. If the recipient withdraws any course or drops a semester, whatever may be the case, he/ She would not get any benefit beyond the approved period for scholarship/tuition fee waiver. That is, financial waiver would strictly be limited to 08 semesters for students of all undergraduate programs. For Post Graduate Program of MBA, this duration is 04 semesters with effect from his/her first admission. The scholarship/tuition fee waiver would automatically be discontinued after this time bar.
  3. Tuition fee waiver will discontinue with immediate effect if the student is delinquent in any way or if the GPA is less than the required limit or on completion of her/his required credits for degree. Also, it will automatically discontinue for unauthorized absence in any semester by the student. In any case, revival of such assistance might be considered on receipt of fresh application from the student in due course.
  4. Tuition fee waiver would not be extended to 'Retake' any course i.e. if a student retakes any course(s), he /She would pay full tuition fee for that particular subject.
  5. A student convicted on any disciplinary ground at BUFT will lose his/her right to enjoy any Tuition Fee waiver which he/she might be enjoying currently.
  6. A student on probation will have to discontinue his/her right to enjoy any scholarship or tuition fee waiver.
  7. Attendance in classes of at least 70% must be maintained for receiving any type of tuition fee waiver.

 

 

Note: Waiver policy may be changed by BUFT authorities if/when necessary.

Students will be considered for any of the above mentioned Tuition Fee Waiver/Scholarship at one time as applicable. Students must apply for scholarship/tuition fee waiver within a given time-frame as decided by the BUFT authority.
