DBA Alumni Association of BUFT Assists Family of Martyr Selim Talukdar
The Alumni Association of the Department of Business Administration (DBA) at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) has extended financial support to the family of Shaheed Selim Talukdar, a BUFT alumnus and martyr of the recent 2024 Anti-Discrimination Students' Movement.
In a heartfelt ceremony, the donation was presented to Shaheed Talukdar’s father by Distinguished Professor Md. Muinuddin Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies and Social Sciences. The event was attended by key members of the BUFT family, including Prof. Dr. Engr. Mohammed Rubaiyat Chowdhury, Dean of the Faculty of Apparel Studies; Dr. Md. Kamrul Hasan, Head of the Department of Business Administration; Gp Capt (Retd) ANM Rafiqul Alam, Director of Student Welfare; and Mr. Mohammad Mahbub Hossain, President of the BUFT DBA Alumni Association, along with other advisory and associated members.
Attendees expressed deep gratitude for Mr. Selim Talukdar’s ultimate sacrifice, with many stating, "His legacy will inspire future generations to fight for justice and equality. We are forever indebted to him and his family". The BUFT Alumni Association remains committed to supporting its members and their families, especially in times of need.
BUFT Alumnus & Former Faculty Member Mahnur E Rahman Awarded Prestigious Chevening Scholarship
BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) proudly announces that Ms. Mahnur E Rahman, a distinguished alumnus and former faculty member, has been awarded the prestigious Chevening Scholarship. This fully funded UK government scholarship honors exceptional emerging leaders globally, and Mahnur is the first BUFT graduate to receive this esteemed recognition.
Mahnur will pursue her postgraduate studies at the University of Westminster, London, and will represent both Chevening and Bangladesh with distinction. Her academic excellence was demonstrated during her tenure at BUFT, including a top achievement in the “Study Abroad Initiative” at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, India, and winning the regional heat of the SDC International Design Competition in 2015. Professionally, Mahnur began her career at Marks and Spencer Bangladesh before contributing her expertise to BUFT and other institutions. As a visionary entrepreneur, her initiative “Mahnoor” has significantly advanced social and economic development in Bangladesh's arts and crafts sectors.
BUFT extends heartfelt congratulations to Mahnur and wishes her continued success in her studies and future endeavors in the UK.
NCFT Students Visit BUFT as Part of Collaborative Internship Program
BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) warmly welcomed students from Namuna College of Fashion Technology (NCFT) as part of an ongoing internship collaboration hosted by Blucheez Outfitters on August 29, 2024. The visit provided the students with valuable industry exposure and insights, aligning with the goals set out in the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between BUFT and NCFT, signed in March 2024.
The delegation was received by Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro Vice Chancellor of BUFT alongside other distinguished faculty members. The visit included a tour of BUFT’s facilities, a boat trip on the Turag River, and a productive exchange of ideas with BUFT students. This initiative, organized with the support of Blucheez Outfitters, exemplifies the shared commitment of both institutions to fostering academic and industry collaboration.
The internship, which began on July 1 and concludes on September 4, 2024, has provided NCFT’s fashion design students with hands-on experience in their field, supported by Blucheez Outfitters. This visit serves as another step towards strengthening the partnership between BUFT and NCFT, further enhancing opportunities for academic exchange, joint research, and student development.
