BUFT Honors Winners of Book Reading Competition-Spring 2026
The Department of English and BUFT English Club of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) organized the prize-giving ceremony of the Book Reading Competition-Spring 2026 at the university's Multipurpose Hall on 15 July 2026. The competition was participated in by students of the 261 batch. Mr. Faruque Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of BUFT, attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest and distributed prizes among the winners. Speaking on the occasion, he underscored the importance of developing a reading habit among students, saying that regular reading broadens knowledge, enhances critical thinking, and contributes to intellectual and personal development.
The ceremony began with a welcome speech by Ms. Shahriar Parvin, Head of the Department of English. Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice Chancellor (Designate), Prof. Dr. Md. Alamgir Hossain, Pro VC (Acting) & Treasurer, Distinguished Professor Md. Muinuddin Khan, Dean, Faculty of Business Studies (FBS) and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS), and Prof. Dr. Md. Waliul Alam, Director, Student Welfare also addressed the audience, emphasizing the significance of reading in developing academic excellence, creativity, and lifelong learning. The event concluded with the announcement of the names of the successful participants, the distribution of prizes, and a photo session attended by faculty members and students.
BUFT VC (Designate) Attends 'July Uprising Memorial Award 2026' as Special Guest
Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice Chancellor (Designate) of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), attended the "July Uprising Memorial Award 2026" as a Special Guest at the Shahid Zia Auditorium of the Bangladesh National Museum on 13 July 2026. The event, organized by the Private University National Association of Bangladesh (PUNAB), paid tribute to the sacrifices and contributions of private university students during the July Revolution. Vice-chancellors of several private universities, distinguished academics, students, and representatives from higher education institutions also attended the program, which highlighted the role of young people in promoting social responsibility, volunteerism, and national development.
The event featured the presentation of awards in 30 categories recognizing the outstanding contributions of university clubs for their volunteer services, social work, and community engagement. Special tributes were also paid to the families of those martyred and injured during the July Revolution, as well as to journalists and educators who supported the movement. Several university organizations, including the BUFT, UU, and the NSU partnered with PUNAB in organizing the program. BUFT's participation in the event reflects the university's continued commitment to fostering leadership, civic engagement, and humanitarian values among its students.
BUFT Hosts Leo Youth Conference 2026 to Inspire Leadership and Social Responsibility
BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) hosted the Leo Youth Conference 2026 at its Multipurpose Hall on 14 July 2026, bringing together students, faculty members, and distinguished guests to promote youth leadership, community service, and social responsibility. The conference was inaugurated by Mr. Golam Akbar Khandaker, Former Member of Parliament, Former Ambassador, and Former Advisor to the BNP Chairperson, who attended the event as the Chief Guest. The event was presided over by Mr. Faruque Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of BUFT. Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice Chancellor (Designate) of BUFT, and eminent actress and model Ms. Nusrat Imroz Tisha attended the conference as Special Guests.
Addressing the gathering, the guests encouraged young people to embrace leadership, volunteerism, and civic engagement in building a progressive and compassionate society. As part of the conference, a community service program featuring a free eye check-up and voluntary blood donation campaign was organized on the BUFT campus, drawing enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and staff. The conference concluded with a renewed commitment to fostering youth empowerment, social responsibility, and community service among the younger generation.
