BUFT Industrial Engineering Students Visit Akij Bakers Ltd.

The Department of Industrial Engineering of BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) organized a factory visit to Akij Bakers Ltd. on 23 December 2025 as part of its co-curricular activities. The visit aimed to provide students with hands-on exposure to real-life industrial operations in Bangladesh and to bridge the gap between academic learning and practical application. Faculty members of the Department of Industrial Engineering accompanied the students throughout the visit. During the tour, students observed modern baking production processes and gained valuable insights into large-scale manufacturing practices. They were particularly impressed by the highly efficient and well-organized production lines that ensure quality, hygiene, and precision at every stage of production.

An interactive question-and-answer session was also arranged, allowing students to engage directly with industry professionals and deepen their understanding of industrial engineering practices within the food manufacturing sector. In addition, the Akij Bakers team organized several enjoyable games and activities, which added to the overall learning experience and made the visit memorable for the students. The Department of Industrial Engineering, BUFT, expressed its sincere appreciation to the management of Akij Bakers Ltd. for their excellent coordination, guidance, and warm hospitality in making the factory visit both educational and successful.

BUFT Holds Discussion Program and Dua Mahfil in Memory of Former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia

A Discussion Program and Dua Mahfil was held on January 6, 2026, at the Multipurpose Hall of BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) to commemorate the passing of the former Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Begum Khaleda Zia. She passed away on December 30, 2025, leaving behind a significant legacy in the political history of the country. The memorial program was attended by Mr. Faruque Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, BUFT; Ms. Sharmin Hassan, Director of Giant Group; Mr. Mohammed Nasir; and Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Acting Vice-Chancellor of BUFT, along with faculty members, officers, staff, and students of the university. The speakers reflected on the life, leadership, and contributions of Begum Khaleda Zia and offered prayers for the eternal peace of her departed soul.

The Dua Mahfil was conducted in a solemn and respectful atmosphere, with participants praying collectively for forgiveness and eternal peace for the late leader. The program concluded with a renewed sense of remembrance and respect, as the BUFT community paid tribute to one of the most prominent figures in Bangladesh’s political history.

BUFT Plays Key Role in Shin Shin Group's 2nd Batch Management Trainee Graduation Program

BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) proudly partnered with Shin Shin Group to successfully complete the 2nd batch of its Management Trainee (MT) Graduation Program in November 2025. The program trained 11 fresh graduates from various disciplines over six months (720 hours), combining theoretical and practical sessions in classroom and factory settings. The Graduation Ceremony, organized in association with BUFT’s Career Development Center (CDC), will be held on 4 January 2026 to celebrate the trainees’ achievements. The event will be honored by the presence of Mr. Faruque Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, as Chief Guest, and Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Acting Vice Chancellor, as Special Guest. From BUFT, the ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Md. Alamgir Hossain, Treasurer; Mr. Md. Rafiquzzaman, Registrar; Deans; Heads of Academic and Administrative Departments. Representing Shin Shin Group were Mr. Mohammad Sohel Sadat, Chairman & Managing Director, and Mr. Tim Zahid Hossain, Advisor, People & Culture.

BUFT faculty played a key role in the program, organizing four seminars, participating in selection interviews, supporting course development, and evaluating trainees, under the MoU with Shin Shin Group. Graduates will receive a certificate jointly signed by Shin Shin Group and BUFT, bearing both logos. Shin Shin Group expressed deep gratitude for BUFT’s invaluable contribution in shaping this innovative talent development initiative and advancing industry-academia collaboration.
