Strengthening Global Ties: BUFT and the University of Borås Establish Academic Collaboration
On 7 June 2023, a pivotal moment unfolded as the BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) and the University of Borås (HB) inked a momentous academic agreement, fostering an alliance that promised multifaceted collaborations. This landmark pact laid the foundation for a diverse spectrum of partnerships encompassing exchange programs, collaborative research endeavors, and the sharing of invaluable resources.
Dr. Jenny Balkow, a distinguished figure renowned for her expertise and serving as the Strategic Advisor for International Affairs at the Faculty of Textiles, Engineering, and Business at the University of Borås, graced BUFT with her presence on December 4, 2023. Her visit marked a significant step forward in solidifying the burgeoning relationship between the two esteemed institutions. During her visit, Dr. Balkow met with the Vice Chancellor of BUFT, Prof. Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman, and subsequently participated in a coordination meeting presided over by BUFT's Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan. The meeting witnessed the active participation of BUFT officials and faculty members, signifying a collective dedication to advancing the collaboration to new heights. Dr. Balkow engaged in pivotal discussions and meetings aimed at amplifying the collaborative efforts between BUFT and HB.
The coordination meeting proved to be a dynamic platform where both institutions explored a multitude of possibilities for collaboration. Discussions revolved around the exchange of teachers and students, envisaging potential joint degree programs that could amalgamate the strengths of both universities, and extending support for BUFT students to pursue their academic endeavors at the University of Borås. Following the fruitful meeting, Dr. Balkow was given an extended tour of the BUFT campus. Dr. Balkow is scheduled to deliver the keynote speech on education and research opportunities at the University of Borås on 6 December 2023.
Ms. Anika Zaman, a BUFT student has been selected to showcase her Haute Couture collection at the cultural festival Alcheringa
Alcheringa is the cultural festival of one of the leading Indian universities, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Guwahati, India. It is one of Asia’s most significant university-level cultural events, held annually at the IIT campus, where participants are selected globally. With Alcheringa’s fabulous events and competitions, people from all over the world partake in the spectacular festival. Ms. Anika Zaman, a BUFT student (Batch 202) of the Department of Fashion Design and Technology (FDT), has been selected to showcase her Haute Couture collection at the program to be held in March 2024.
Doa Mahfil and Discussion on the 48th National Mourning Day
Marking the 48th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and his family members, BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology organized a discussion and doa mahfil on August 16, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. S. M. Mahfuzur Rahman, Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Jalil, Distinguished Professor and Dean, Faculty of Business Studies, Prof. Md. Muinuddin Khan, Dean, Faculty of Engineering Studies Prof. Dr. Sirajul Karim Choudhury, Dean, Faculty of Apparel Studies Prof. Dr. Mohammed Rubaiyat Chowdhury, Dean, Faculty of Fashion Studies Prof. Dr. Md. Alamgir Hossain, Head of Logistics, Wg. Cdr. Shahidullah (Retd), spoke on the occasion, reflecting on the life and legacy of the Father of the Nation. The discussion session ended with a doa mahfil for the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and all his martyred family members. All heads of the academic and administrative departments, faculty members, officials, and staff of BUFT were present at the program.
