Abstract

A firm considers various factors when approaching a dividend policy decision. To analyze the determinants of dividend policy in the context of Bangladesh, relevant data has been taken from various financial indicators of sample companies. The pooled data regression model is used for interpreting results. Results show that the SG is negatively related to DPR and LIQ, RISK, OWNSP, ROA, lagged DPR are positively related to DPR. The decision maker, investors and other stakeholders should follow these findings.

Abstract

This research includes a few complex analyses involved in product modification to expand environmental friendliness while maintaining customer appeal and market competitiveness. In this research, a strategic concept funnel has been proposed. According to this funnel overall solution of green market strategies of Bangladesh can be achieved. This concept model has been approved by a small survey (Google, Face book and Skype) among Bangladeshi Green factories. 64% of the top level management agreed with this concept model, whereas only 36% disagreed. Sometimes manufacturers face some barriers due to government regulations like tax, tariff, and GSP issues. To get open market, government needs to take proper steps to ensure sustainable development. This paper analyses the level of alertness among manufacturers pertaining to their consciousness in aspects such as eco-labeling and the production of green products which need more customer concern, and change of old technology. After the analysis, the paper gives Bangladeshi industrialists a detailed guideline regarding the production of green products and implementation of green technologies though preserving market competitiveness for environmental conservation. There is a huge prospect of green marketing in Bangladesh. It can bring new dimension in the field of business with proper implementation of green marketing policies and strategies.

Abstract

Human resource is the key element of organizational success and manager is the key person wholeads all of the employees towards the organizational goal. The performance of a manager mostly depends on the personality of the manager. In this study, the author used big five factor modelof personality and 360 degree feedback method to examine the relationship between managers’ personality and its relationship with managers’ performances. Extraversion and openness to experience dimensions of personality had no significant relation with managers’ performances. However, conscientiousness, emotional stability and agreeableness had significant relation with managers’ performance in the garments sector of Bangladesh. The managers who had higher level of conscientiousness and emotional stability were likely to perform well but the scenario was different for agreeableness dimension of personality. Agreeableness was negatively correlated with managers’ performance. The study revealed that the high performance manager had lowlevel of agreeableness and low performance manager had high level of agreeableness. To enhance performance in the garments sector, managers need to be conscientious (dependable, trustworthy), emotionally stable (self-confident) and less agreeable (innovative and bargainer).

Myths and legends have always been used in framing artistic structure of literary works. In this connection, Alfred Lord Tennyson’s two mythical poems - “ Ulysses? and “ The Lotos-Eaters?present two contradictory states of human nature. In “ Ulysses? the hero represents the mood of restlessness and action; on the other hand in “ The Lotos-Eaters? the same hero along with hissailors are tired in life and willing to enjoy rest forgetting the weariness of past life. This paperis an attempt to explore ‘action’ and ‘inaction’ in the two pair poems - Ulysses and The Lotos–Eaters respectively. Further the paper focuses on the original myth of Ulysses and Tennyson’sown treatment with the same to express the dissimilar concepts of human life for modern readers.

Abstract

Defining home is problematic as it is impossible to give a single statement about what it is. The recurring ideas of home are as a fixed place or a dwelling where the family members live, a place constituted of one’s memories or somewhere/thing to go back to. Though closely related to our personal life the concept of home is deeply influenced by individual and social conditions. Because of different conditions the definition of home varies. This problem of definition is responsible for a strange confusion of homecoming. As it is difficult to say what it is, so going or coming there is the same thing or nothing. This paper focuses on this problem and it discusses the different handling of the meaning of ‘home’ in Robert Frost’s “The Death of the Hired Man” and Amitav Ghosh’s The Shadow Lines to show that homecoming is perplexing in these two literary pieces.

Purpose: The study aims to look at how organizational justice (OJ) and its four components affectbankers' intentions to stay (ITS), so that the administration of Bangladeshi banks can focus on increasingthe capacity to retain competent and experienced individuals over time.Data and Method: This study uses a convenience sampling method, and a sample of 181 bankers, inwhich all of the questionnaire items are graded on a 5-point Likert scale. With the use of correlation,regression, and ANOVA, SPSS version 25 is used to evaluate data.Findings: OJ and its four dimensions have been discovered to have a major impact on ITS. The findingsshow that bankers are required to reciprocate with a good attitude if they perceive their organisation andmanagement treat them similarly, equitably, fairly, and rationally.Practical Implications: This research has substantial practical consequences for Bangladesh's bankingsector. Top-level management should adopt policies and processes to institutionalize OJ for all fourgroups, which will probably result in a rise in the ITS of bankers inside their organisations.Value: Little emphasis has been made on the four characteristics of OJ and their impact on ITS.Furthermore, the effect of OJ on ITS appears to be understudied in Bangladesh. To close this gap, theresearch will examine the role of OJ in fostering employees’ ITS in Bangladesh's banking sector.Research Limitations: Significant study limitations include the convenience sample method used toobtain data, limited sample size and a focus on a specific area.
