A memorial meeting was held on 14 June 2026 at the Multipurpose Hall of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) to commemorate the first death anniversary of the late Abdullah Hil Rakib, Member of the Board of Trustees of BUFT and Managing Director of Team Group. The program included the paying of tribute, sharing of memories, and a special prayer seeking eternal peace and forgiveness for the departed soul. Reminiscing about his life and contributions, Mr. Faruque Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of BUFT, highlighted Abdullah Hil Rakib’s dedication, leadership qualities, and significant role in the development of the industry. Among others who spoke at the event were Mr. Moshiul Azam Shajal and Mr. Mohammed Nasir, Members of the BUFT Board of Trustees; Mr. Tamiz Uddin Bhuiyan Salim, Managing Director of aPlus Group; Mr. Imtiaz Ahmed, Executive Director of Team Group; senior officials of the Group; the Vice-Chancellor; and the Dean of the Faculty of Science. The event was attended by Mrs. Sharmin Hassan, Director of Giant Group, the Pro-Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, officers, staff, and students of the university. The speakers called upon all to draw inspiration from the ideals, humanitarian values, and dedicated life of the late Abdullah Hil Rakib. The memorial meeting concluded with a special prayer for the eternal peace of his soul.

BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) achieved a significant milestone in student entrepreneurship as Team DenimRevive from the Department of Textile Engineering won the National Championship at the prestigious Hult Prize 2026 on May 8, 2026. The team, consisting of Jahidul Islam (Batch 221), Nazmul Hasan (Batch 221), and Al Shahriar Neerab (Batch 222), secured the title with an innovative circular fashion solution that transforms denim waste into sustainable, high-value products. Their project addresses critical environmental challenges in the apparel industry through a scalable and impactful sustainability model. Competing against top student innovators from across Bangladesh, Team DenimRevive impressed judges with its vision, innovation, and commitment to sustainable entrepreneurship.

The achievement reflects BUFT's continued dedication to nurturing innovation, sustainability, and industry-focused leadership among its students. By winning the national title, the team has advanced to the next stage of the international Hult Prize competition, where they will represent both BUFT and Bangladesh on the global stage. BUFT congratulates the team on this outstanding accomplishment and wishes them continued success in their journey toward global recognition.

BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT), in collaboration with its Department of Environmental Science & BUFT Science & Environment Club, observed World Environment Day through a two-day program held on June 10–11, 2026, promoting environmental awareness, sustainability, and climate action. The program featured a tree plantation drive, an environmental awareness rally, a SpoGOMI Tournament, a roundtable discussion, and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed between BUFT and four environmental organizations. Winners of various competitions were also awarded prizes.

The program was graced by Mr. Faruque Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, BUFT, as the Chief Guest and chaired by Professor Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice Chancellor (Designate). Distinguished attendees included Board of Trustees member Mr. Mohammed Nasir, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Acting) and Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Alamgir Hossain, Advocate Shafiqur Rahman, Chairman of Pran Prokriti Poribesh Protibesh Rakkha Jatio Committee, Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Jalil, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Registrar Md. Rafiquzzaman, as well as deans, department heads, faculty members, officials, and students.
