BUFT Explores Collaborative Ventures with South African Business Delegation during BSEC Sideline Meeting
A distinguished team from BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT), led by Mr. Md. Rafiquzzaman, Registrar, BUFT and Dr. Ranajit Kumar Nag, Head of the Textile Engineering Department, along with Mr. ATM Adnan, Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Administration, and Mr. Rayed Barkat, Assistant Professor in the Department of Fashion Studies, participated in a sideline meeting with the South African business delegation. The event unfolded at the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) premises on March 12, 2024. During the meeting, Mr. Md. Rafiquzzaman warmly introduced the BUFT team, setting the stage for the discussions that followed. Dr. Ranajit Kumar Nag, the Head of the Textile Engineering Department, delivered a comprehensive presentation, shedding light on BUFT's academic prowess, highlighting the institution's expertise in Textile, Fashion design, and Technology.
The South African business delegation, representing the South Africa-Indian Ocean Rim Business Forum (IORBF) and the Black Business Council (BBC), expressed a keen interest in understanding the skilled manpower supply by BUFT, particularly in the Readymade Garments sector of Bangladesh. The delegation sought insights into the university's capabilities in providing skilled professionals in the fields of Textile, Fashion design, and Technology. BUFT reciprocated the enthusiasm by expressing a keen interest in fostering collaboration through joint degree offerings, collaborative applied research, and the commercialization of technological innovation with South African universities. The discussions aimed to strengthen ties and create mutually beneficial opportunities for both parties.
At the end a token of appreciation was presented to the South African business delegates from BUFT, symbolizing the promising collaboration and goodwill established during the meeting.
Internship Program Closing Ceremony for HSNR, Germany Students at BUFT
The closing ceremony for the internship program involving students from Niederrhein
University of Applied Sciences (HSNR), Germany, took place at BGMEA University of
Fashion and Technology (BUFT) on 7 March 2024. Mr. Abdullah Hil Rakib, Member of
BoT, BUFT and Managing Director of Team Group, graced the event as the Chief Guest
while Prof. Dr. S.M. Mahfuzur Rahman, Vice Chancellor of BUFT presided over the
ceremony. Mr. Moshiul Azam Shajal, and Mr. Mohammed Nasir, Members of BoT, BUFT
were present as the Special Guests. Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro Vice Chancellor
of BUFT delivered the Welcome Speech. Seven interns from Niederrhein University
engaged in a month-long internship with the BUFT-nominated Team Group. At the
event, the students shared insightful experiences from their internships, including visits
to local factories and elaborate accounts of their participation in international trade fair,
book fair, and explorations at places like Dhaka University and Cox's Bazar. The event
was attended by various dignitaries, including the Registrar, Deans, Chairmen, and
Directors of different departments, as well as teachers and officials from BUFT.
It is important to note that the educational agreement between BUFT and HSNR,
initiated in 2000, was renewed for the third time on 4 October 2023. This agreement
will continue to facilitate research initiatives, student-faculty exchange programs, and
collaborative activities between the two institutions.
BUFT-NIFT MoU Signed
BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) and the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), a top-ranked fashion institution in India, have extended their international academic collaboration agreement. The signing ceremony took place during the Bharat Tex 2024 global event, one of the largest international textile shows, organized by the Ministry of Textiles, India on 27 February 2024. On behalf of both parties, Ms. Tanu Kashyap, IAS, and Mr. Md. Shafiul Islam, Honorable Chairman of the Board of Trade, signed the agreement. Distinguished individuals, including BGMEA President and founder member, BOT, BUFT, Mr. Faruque Hassan, Mrs. Hassan, Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Pro VC, BUFT, textile entrepreneurs, and academicians attended the event. In the closing session of the MoU program, Ms. Rachna Shah, Textile Secretary from the Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The initial BUFT-NIFT MoU was signed on September 6, 2011, in Dhaka, in the presence of the honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, and the former Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh, by BUFT Former Founder Chairman, Mr. Muzaffar U Siddique, and the Director-General of NIFT. Additionally, BUFT also signed a new academic collaboration agreement with Namuna College of Fashion Technology (NCFT) in Nepal.
