Marking the 48th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and his family members, BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology organized a discussion and doa mahfil on August 16, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. S. M. Mahfuzur Rahman, Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Jalil, Distinguished Professor and Dean, Faculty of Business Studies, Prof. Md. Muinuddin Khan, Dean, Faculty of Engineering Studies Prof. Dr. Sirajul Karim Choudhury, Dean, Faculty of Apparel Studies Prof. Dr. Mohammed Rubaiyat Chowdhury, Dean, Faculty of Fashion Studies Prof. Dr. Md. Alamgir Hossain, Head of Logistics, Wg. Cdr. Shahidullah (Retd), spoke on the occasion, reflecting on the life and legacy of the Father of the Nation. The discussion session ended with a doa mahfil for the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and all his martyred family members. All heads of the academic and administrative departments, faculty members, officials, and staff of BUFT were present at the program.

A doa mahfil was organized for the quick recovery of Mr. Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, MP, Chairman of Board of Trustees (BOT), BUFT and Mr. Siddiqur Rahman, Founder Member, BOT, BUFT. The mahfil commenced at the BUFT prayer hall on July 9, 2023 following the Asr prayer, led by BUFT Imam Mr. Redwanur Rahman. Trustee Board Member & Acting Chairman, BOT, BUFT Mr. Abdullah Hil Rakib, Trustee Board Member Mr. Moshiul Azam Shajal, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. S.M. Mahfuzur Rahman, Treasurer, Registrar, Deans, Heads of academic and administrative units, faculty members, officers, staff and students attended the event.

The BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) Seminar, Workshop, and Symposium Committee successfully organized an enlightening seminar titled 'Emerging Technologies & Innovations in Textile Fiber & Recycling' on June 14 at 2 p.m. The event brought together industry professionals, students, and academics to delve into the latest advancements reshaping the landscape of textile fiber and recycling practices. BUFT Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan delivered the welcome address at the program. The esteemed keynote speaker, Dr. Shahriare Mahmood, Chief Sustainability Officer at Spinnova, Helsinki, Finland, offered a platform for knowledge exchange and insightful discussions on innovations in textile fiber and recycling. Dr. Mahmood, a leading figure in sustainable textile practices, shared his expertise and shed light on groundbreaking technologies that have the potential to revolutionize the industry. Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT), Mr. Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, MP, graced the occasion with his presence. BUFT BOT Founder Member and Former Chairman Mr. Muzaffar U Siddique; Trustee Board Members Mr. Moshiul Azam Shajal and Mr. Zakir Hossain; BUFT Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. S. M. Mahfuzur Rahman; BUFT Treasurer Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Jalil; BUFT Deans, faculty members, and students were present at the seminar. Drawing from Spinnova's expertise, Dr. Mahmood highlighted their revolutionary technology, which produces high-quality fibers from renewable and cellulose-rich sources without the need for harmful chemicals.
