Research Seminar on Implementation Status of Bangladesh Labor Laws in RMG Industry

The Departments of Business Administration & Social Science, BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) organized a seminar on the research findings of the “Implementation Status of Bangladesh Labor Laws in RMG Industry: A study on General Factories in Gazipur Area” in the Seminar Room 101, 1st Floor, inside BUFT premises.

Mr. Muzaffar U. Siddique, Founder Chairman, BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) was the Chief Guest at the program. Mr. Md Shafiul Islam (Mohiuddin), Founder Member Board of Trustees (BoT), BUFT; Mr. Md. Faruque Hassan, Founder Member, BoT, BUFT; Professor Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice Chancellor (Acting); Dr. Khondaker Golam Moazzem, Research Director, Centre for Policy Dialogue; Mohammed Zahidullah, Head of Sustainability, DBL Group; Professor Md Muinuddin Khan, Distinguished Professor & Dean, Faculty of Business Studies (FBS), BUFT, who chaired the seminar, rounded up the group of panelists.

The panelists discussed about the research findings from a study conducted on Garment Factories in the Gazipur Area, the status and present scenario of Labor Laws implementation in the garment sector. All the panelists shared their opinions and views and had a fruitful exchange of ideas to be taken into consideration for future research and implementation.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Professor Md. Muinuddin Khan, Distinguished Professor & Dean, FBS, BUFT.

Post Budget Discussion on “Bangladesh Economic Scenario with Reference to Budget FY 2019-20 & RMG Sector

Department of Business Administration of BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) has organized a Post Budget Discussion on “Bangladesh Economic Scenario with Reference to Budget FY 2019-20 & RMG Sector” on June 27 2019 at its permanent campus, Nishatnagar, Turag, Dhaka. Professor Mustafizur Rahman, Distinguished fellow of Center for Policy Dialogue (CPD) was the Principal speaker in the discussion session.

Mr. Muzaffar U. Siddique, Founder Chairman, Board of Trustees, BUFT was the Chief Guest of the program while Prof. Eng. Dr. Ayub Nabi khan, Vice Chancellor (Acting), BUFT, Prof. Dr. A H M Habibur Rahman, Dean, School of Business, Prime Asia University and Mr. Md. Moshiul Azam (Shajal), Member, Board of Trustees, BUFT were present as the special guests of the program. Distinguished Professor Md. Muinuddin Khan, Dean, Faculty of Business Studies, BUFT presided over the program.

Dr. Mustafizur Rahman, Principal speaker of the program discussed various aspects of the National Budget FY (2019-20), especially allocation for ever growing Education Sector, Sustainable Growth for RMG sector, Poverty Alleviation, GDP Growth Rate, Inflation, Implementation of the Development Programs and SDGs etc.

The session also discussed about the major financial issues such as new Value Added Tax (VAT) system, Bank Interest Rate, Monetary Policy and Entrepreneurship Incentive and Performance Evaluation of the past year Budget followed by a lovely question and answer session from the audience. The discussion session was also graced by the Treasurer, Honorable Deans of all Faculties, The Registrar, Heads of Different Departments, Faculty Members and Students of different departments.

A Crest of Appreciation was presented to the Principal Speaker Professor Mustafizur Rahman, Distinguished Fellow CPD by Mr. Muzaffar U. Siddique, Founder Chairman, BOT, BUFT. The session concluded with the concluding remarks and Vote of Thanks by Distinguished Professor Md. Muinuddin Khan, Dean, FBS, BUFT.

Anti-drug campaign rally held at BUFT

The Anti-Drug Monitoring Committee on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse & Illicit Trafficking held a rally to support BUFT’s firm stance against drug abuse and trafficking. The ADMC formed by Founder Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Mr Muzaffar U. Siddique, actively practices a no-tolerance policy against drug abuse and illicit trafficking. They will continue to do so to ensure that BUFT maintains its excellence in creating conscious, responsible, and diligent world class leaders.
