A seminar on “Prospects of Higher Education at Binary University, Malaysia” was organized by Centre for Coordination Consulting & Testing (CCT) on November 21, 2019 in the Seminar Hall at BUFT, Nishatnagar, Turag.

Vice Chancellor (Acting) Professor Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan was present as the chief guest at the program. Professor Dr. Asif Mahbub Karim, Dean, Binary Graduate School, Binary University of Management & Entrepreneurship was the keynote speaker at the program. He discussed about various programs available to prospective students. Professor Dr. Sirajul Karim Chowdhury, Dean, Faculty of Engineering Studies; Professor Ekram Ali Shaikh, Dean, Faculty of Sciences; Heads of Departments, Faculty members, and students were present in the audience.

Vice Chancellor(Acting) Professor Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan expressed his gratitude and presented a crest to Professor Dr. Asif Mahbub Karim, Dean, Binary Graduate School, Binary University of Management & Entrepreneurship as a token of appreciation.

Prize Giving Ceremony of Intra-University Public Speaking Competition- 2019 held in BUFT

“Intra-University Public Speaking Competition-2019 - Let’s Talk” was organized by BUFT English Club, in the Seminar Hall - 101, on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 3.00 pm.

Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice-Chancellor (Acting), Professor Md. Muinuddin Khan, Distinguished Professor and Dean, Faculty of Business Studies, and Arts and Social Science, Professor Dr. Sirajul Karim Choudhury, Dean, Faculty of Fashion Studies, and Mr. Morshed Hasib Hasan, Senior Reporter, Channel 24, were present as guests in the Final Round and Prize Giving Ceremony of the competition. Dr. Ali Azgor Talukder, Associate Professor and Head, Dept. of English, Ms. Shahanaz Mahmud, Professor, Dept. of English, Ms. Mahmuda Iasmin Era, were among the Judges of the final round of the competition.

The competition, divided in three segments - the Audition Round, a Semi-Final, and the Final, was able to catch many students interests. More than 40 students from different departments took part in the Audition Round from which, after the Semi-Final, seven finalists were selected to take part in the Final. Md. Fahim Ahmed, Batch-171, Dept. of Textile Engineering, was declared the Champion while Mubasshir Tazwar, from Batch -171, Dept. of AMT and Tasdiq Azeez Chaudhury, Batch-192, Dept. of Textile Engineering, became runner-up and second runner up respectively. The winner and two runner ups of the competition received certificates and books for their achievements. Participants in the final round were also provided certificates for their participation. The participants in general reported that the competition, through its one-month-long journey, brought many positive changes and improvements in their public speaking ability.

Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, the Vice-Chancellor (Acting) of BUFT, in his speech as the Chief Guest, encouraged the students to enhance their English Language Proficiency through different ways like reading fiction and non-fiction books, participating in different competitions and so on. He mentioned that a strong communicative ability is very important to build for students to cope with the demands of ever expanding RMG and related sectors. He further emphasized that “A student, first and foremost, needs to be a good human being to progress in life”. Prof. Md. Muinuddin Khan, Distinguished Professor and Dean, Faculty of Business Studies and Arts and Social Sciences, in his speech, explained the necessity of having good communicative abilities for students and encouraged them to focus more on that. Prof. Dr. Sirajul Karim Choudhury, Dean, Faculty of Fashion Studies, appreciated the initiative that BUFT English Club has taken. He also encouraged the students to continue learning and growing. Mr. Morshed Hasib Hasan, Senior Reporter, Channel 24, in his speech, draws upon why having a strong command in English Language is important in the current economic condition of Bangladesh. He also encouraged the students to build and improve their speaking and other skills, stating that “This will highly benefit them in their future careers in a global work market.”

Club President, Md. Abdullah Al Yeasir concluded the Prize Giving Ceremony by giving a vote of thanks to everyone involved in the event.
