Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Jalil joined as a Treasurer

Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Jalil a reported Scientist has joined BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) as Treasurer on 1st January, 2020.

Before holding this position he served BUFT as Dean, Faculty of Science and Controller of Examinations. He has more than 20 years of teaching, research and management experiences including six years of research position in reputed overseas universities and institutes. Dr. Jalil received his B.Sc. (Honors) and M.Sc. degree in chemistry from Dhaka University in 1986 and 1987 respectively. In 1995 he went to Japan for higher study under the Monbukagakusho Scholarship program. He was conferred his 2nd Masters in 1998 and PhD in 2001 by Kanazawa University, Japan. After awarded his PhD degree, he received the very prestigious JSPS (Japan Society for the promotion of Sciences) Postdoctoral Fellowship for two years and worked in the laboratory of Professor Hedeo Kurosawa at Osaka University, Japan.

After completing his postdoctoral fellowship, he had a research position for over four years in the Institute of Chemical and Engineering Sciences (ICES) in Singapore where he worked as the Principal Investigator (PI) for several projects. Apart from his research work in ICES he trained up a good number of industrial attachment students from National University of Singapore and the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

He has been awarded several scholarships/fellowship and grants including JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship award, Sasakawa Scientific Research Grant, Sasakawa Grant for attending the Conference, Monbukagakusho Scholarship for Master’s and Doctoral programs. His publications have appeared in many leading academic journals, including the American Chemical Society (US), the Royal Chemical Society (UK), Springer, Elsevier etc. and have been widely cited. He published 2 books and 25 peer reviewed journal and conference papers and presented his research finding in various international conferences held in various parts of Japan, Europe and America. He is also routinely reviewing manuscripts of research papers and books published from various national and international organizations.

Professional activities of Dr Jalil are extensive. He is the Life Member of Bangladesh Chemical Society, Bangla Academy, Japanese universities Alumni Association in Bangladesh (JUAAB), Dhaka University Alumni Association, Dhaka University Shahidullah Hall Alumni Association, DU83 Batch Foundation and a Member of the Chemical Society of Japan, International Researchers Club, Singapore, Ishikawa Alumni Association, Japan.

Grand opening of Bangabandhu Gold Cup Inter University Football Tournament held by BUFT

BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) organized the opening ceremony of the Bangabandhu Gold Cup Inter University Football Tournament-2019 on 15 December in the football field at BUFT campus, Nishatnagar, Turag, Dhaka. Mr. Md. Atiqul Islam, Honorable Mayor, Dhaka North City Corporation and Member, Board of Trustees of BUFT was present at the event as the Chief Guest.

Mr. Muzaffar U. Siddique, Founder Chairman, Board of Trustees, BUFT, chaired the function. He gave a flower bouquet and crest to the Chief Guest, Mr. Md. Atiqul Islam, Honorable Mayor, Dhaka North City Corporation and Member, Board of Trustees of BUFT.

Mr. Md. Siddiqur Rahman, Mr. Md. Faruque Hassan, Founder members, along with other members of the Board of Trustees, BUFT, Vice Chancellor (acting) Professor Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Treasurer, Registrar, all Deans, Director of Student Welfare, Director of Administration, Head of Logistics, Project Director, all heads of the academic and administrative departments, faculty members, officials, staff of BUFT, along with media personnel and students were present at the function.

7th BCCS and 4th SNV Training on “Inclusive Business Model for RMG and Textile Sector of Bangladesh” Successfully Held at BUFT

BUFT Centre for CSR and Sustainability (BCCS) and BUFT IB team has successfully organized the 4th round of the inclusive business training titled “Inclusive Business model for RMG and Textile Sector of Bangladesh” on November 30, 2019 at BUFT campus. The training was delivered by BUFT faculty members and researchers, Mr. ATM Adnan, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration & Mr. Rayed Barkat, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Fashion Design. Mr. Jahirul Islam, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration worked as the facilitator of the program. The whole training session was moderated by Mr. Mallick Rakibul Hasan, Business Development Manager, BCCS and Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration, BUFT. Total 21 trainees from different RMG units have participated in the training program. This time for the purpose of generating more IB related knowledge, students from masters and certificate programs were invited.

The program consisted of 3 (three) sessions: “Introduction to Inclusive Business”, “The business model canvas for inclusive business”, “Group work and business model presentation” The program was decorated with some enlighten notes by Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice Chancellor (Acting), BUFT. Mr. Jamal Uddin, Inclusive Business Advisor, SNV Netherland Development Organization was present as the judge of the IB model presentation session.

Certificates were distributed among the participants by Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice Chancellor (Acting), BUFT at the end of the program.
