BCSIR and BUFT Sign MoU to Strengthen National Research, Innovation and Skills Development
Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) and BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 2 December 2025, establishing a strategic partnership to advance research excellence, promote sustainable innovation and expand technical skill development across science, technology and textile fields. The collaboration opens avenues for joint research in sustainable textiles, biomaterials, smart and composite materials, natural dyes, recycling and eco-friendly processing techniques. It also includes co-hosting scientific conferences, seminars, capacity-building workshops and specialized training programs designed for teachers, researchers, scientists and students of both institutions.
As part of the agreement, BCSIR and BUFT will share scientific materials, journals and laboratory resources, while jointly supervising graduate and postgraduate research projects. The partnership further encourages innovation in product development, functional textiles and industrial process improvement key components in achieving national sustainability targets and supporting Bangladesh’s pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals. The MoU was signed by Dr. Samina Ahmed, Chairman of BCSIR, and Mr. Faruque Hassan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of BUFT. Valid for three years, the agreement may be renewed upon mutual consent. Leaders from both institutions noted that the collaboration will foster new research opportunities, strengthen intellectual property outcomes and reinforce long-term academic and scientific cooperation, contributing significantly to the country’s technological and industrial advancement.

BUFT & NBA Sign MoU to Boost Education and Professional Growth
BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) and News Broadcasters’ Alliance Society of Bangladesh (NBA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 25 November 2025 at BUFT’s Nishatnagar campus, establishing a partnership to expand educational and professional development opportunities for Bangladesh’s news broadcasting community. Under the MoU, BUFT will provide NBA members and their immediate family members with a 10% additional tuition fee scholarship across all programs and a 50% admission fee waiver, supporting higher education and skill enhancement for media professionals.
BUFT Chairman Mr. Faruque Hassan described the collaboration as a commitment to empowering those who serve society through journalism. NBA Chief Adviser Mr. Zabed Karder praised the agreement as a meaningful step toward improving educational access and strengthening professional competencies within the broadcasting sector. The MoU also includes cooperation in public relations and media engagement, and will remain valid for two years, with the option for renewal. The signing was witnessed by Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Acting Vice Chancellor of BUFT, Mr. Mohammad Imtiaj, Director, Department of Public Relations of BUFT, Mr. Raisul Hoque Chowdhury, General Secretary of NBA, and Mr. Atiqur Rahman Atik, Health & Social Welfare Secretary.
