Day Long Workshop on “Implementation of LEAN SIX SIGMA in Apparel Manufacturing” held at BUFT

A Comprehensive workshop on “Implementation of LEAN SIX SIGMA in Apparel Manufacturing” held on 23rd of May 2019 at BUFT Permanent Campus, Nishatnagar, Turag, Dhaka-1230 from 09:00 AM to 03:00 PM in order to convey the implication of Lean Six sigma in apparel manufacturing. The workshop was jointly arranged by Department of Business Administration (DBA) and Center for Consultancy and Testing (CCT), BUFT.

Final Year Students from the different undergraduate programs actively participated in the day long workshop. Mr. Naijur Rahman, CEO & Chief Consultant, Mind Works Bangladesh was the chief trainer of the workshop.

Dr. Shirajul Karim Chowdhury, Honorable Dean, Department of Business Administration (DBA) inaugurated the session by giving his valuable speech. Dr. Mohammad Shahidul Islam, Head, DBA also addressed the importance of technical and soft skill development and highlighted the importance of such training and workshops to the development of students for job market.

The chief trainer of the workshop illustrated the significance of the quality assurance of the apparel production process in the competitive world market, he also pointed out the importance of LEAN SIX SIGMA as a key quality assurance and management tools in RMG industry.

The workshop was also graced by Mr. ATM Adnan and Mr. Mallick Rakibul Hassan, Assistant Professors, DBA.There were 36 participants in the workshop. All Participants were awarded a certificate of participation after the session ended. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks and presenting a Crest of Appreciation to the chief trainer by Dr. Mohammad Shahidul Islam, Head, DBA.

BUFT received AMDISA Membership

The Department of Business Administration (DBA) of BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT) has been granted a prestigious Institutional membership of AMDISA (Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia) after it has fulfilled with all its requirements. The membership is granted exclusively for Department of Business Administration only.

Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia - is a SAARC Recognized Body. It is a network of Management Education and Management Development Institutions in South Asia. It has 285 members from the SAARC region. Its mission is to "Promote management education and management development activities in South Asia, taking into account the economic, social and cultural context of the Region, with the firm dedication to world-wide exchange of experience and ideas in the fields concerned." AMDISA is the only Association which networks management development institutions across the eight South Asian Nations through exchanging information, facilitating inter-country research initiatives, conducting regional conferences, workshops, colloquia and programs, and thereby providing a forum for interaction among academics and business leaders.

With this membership, our faculty and students can benefit from the rich and extensive resources of the organization.

A high level Ethiopian Trade Delegation visits at BUFT

A high level trade delegation led by Honorable State Minister, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ethiopian HE Mr. Gebreyesus visited at BUFT Campus on May 21, 2019.

Elevan members of Ethiopian delegation met the Founder Chairman, Board of Trustees, BUFT Mr. Muzaffar Uddin Siddique and exchanged of views on the issue of signing a Memorandum of Understanding on Education between BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) and Ethiopian Textile Industry Development Institute (ETIDI), Ethiopian. The Ethiopian side is to their students to study in the graduate and undergraduate programme in Fashion Design & Technology (FDT) at BUFT. In addition, BUFT expressed willingness to cooperation them by providing support in teaching & research for Ethiopian institution.

Mr. Siddique presented the crest and flower bouquet to delegates. Later the delegation team visited at BUFT Campus. At that time another Ethiopian delegates Mr. Seleshi Lemma BEKELE, Director General of ETIDI, Mr. Goshu Negash GOBONNA, President ETIGAM,; Mr. Sium Tecleab HABTEZION, Director of Ethiopian Textile Industry Development Institute (ETIDI); Acting Vice Chancellor of BUFT Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Treasurer, Registrar, Deans, Heads of the Departments, Faculty Members and Official of BUFT were present with the team.
