About Dr. Karim

Dr. Sirajul Karim currently holds the position of Dean of Faculty of Fashion Studies (FFS) of BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology. He served as the Vice Chancellor and Professor of Department of Mechanical Engineering of Rajshahi university of Engineering and Technology (RUET).

Dr. Karim was ex-Japanese Government Scholarship awardee, completed his MS and PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Oita University and Kyushu University respectively.

Teaching/Research Specialization
  • Dr. Karim has more than 40 years of experience in the fields of teaching, research, education planning and management. He started his career as an Assistant Engineer at Urea Fertilizer Factory, Ghorashal in 1975. Joining as a Lecturer at Rajshahi Engineering College (RUET now) in 5th of August 1975, he started his teaching career. Following the journey he was promoted to professor in 1999. He was the Dean of faculty of Mechanical Engineering from 2004 to 2006.
  • Dr. Karim was the visiting researcher at Mechanical Engineering Research Laboratory (MERL), Hitachi, Tchuchiura, Ibaraki, Japan.
  • He happened to be the Examiner of thesis and examination committee member of KUET, DUET and CUET. Moreover, he was the external expert member of the selection committee for Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor/ Lecturer of KUET.
  • Professor Karim was the Member of Planning and Development Committee, RUET; Fellow of Institute of Engineers Bangladesh and Member of Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers.
  • Dr. Karim was the Technical Expert of various organization/project such as, Zia Shishu Park Project under Rajshahi City Corporation; Sericulture Research Center, Rajshahi and Rajshahi Development Authority.
