Md. Rafiqul Islam Manik currently holds the position of Assistant Professor and Head of Department of Apparel Merchandising & Management at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), Bangladesh.

Md. Rafiqul Islam Manik has completed his M.Sc. in Textile Engineering from BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), MBA in Product & Fashion Merchandising form Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology (SMUCT) and B.Sc. (Hon’s) in Knitwear Manufacture & Technology from BGMEA Institute of Fashion & Technology (BIFT) presently known as BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT).

Mr. Rafiq started his career in the merchandising department of Opex & Sinha Textile Group. Later he was employed in Palmal Group of Industries in the same department. After working for a few years in the RMG industry, he joined as a faculty member in College of Fashion Technology & Management (CFTM). He was also engaged as a faculty member in Shanto-Mariam University of Fashion & Technology (SMUCT). In 2014, he joined BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT).

Md. Rafiqul Islam Manik has almost ten years of experience in the field of industry, teaching and research. He has great interest in research in the field of RMG industry especially in the development of quality of product, supply chain management, minimum material utilization, life cycle analysis, sustainability of garment products, process design of garment manufacturing etc.
