BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) hosted a delegation from Zhejiang Sci-Tech University (ZSTU), China, at an academic conference on August 16, aimed at strengthening academic and institutional ties between the two universities. Organized by BUFT’s Department of Fashion Studies (FS), the event titled “Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, China and BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) Academic Conference 2026”.

The conference brought together academics from the two institutions to exchange views and explore opportunities for future collaboration in education, research and related areas. Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice-Chancellor (Designate) of BUFT, delivered the welcome address, while Prof. Xu Qiujie of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University spoke on behalf of the visiting delegation. Mr. Faruque Hassan, chairman of the BUFT Board of Trustees, in his remarks, emphasized the importance of deepening academic and institutional cooperation between BUFT and ZSTU.

The program concluded with closing remarks by Prof. Dr. Md. Abdul Jalil, Dean of the School of Sciences and Textile Engineering at BUFT. The visiting delegates were later presented with BUFT souvenirs as a gesture of appreciation. The program ended with a group photograph, followed by a tour of the BUFT campus for the guests. The visit is expected to contribute to greater academic engagement and pave the way for future collaboration between BUFT and Zhejiang Sci-Tech University.

The Department of Apparel Manufacturing and Technology (AMT) of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) organized the AMT Exhibition and Show 2026 on 13 August 2026 at the university’s Multi-purpose Hall and adjoining open space. The exhibition showcased innovative projects, creative works and practical achievements of students from Batches 221, 222, 231 and 232, highlighting their technical skills, creativity and industry-oriented learning in apparel manufacturing and technology. 

Mr. Faruque Hassan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, BUFT, attended the event as Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice-Chancellor (Designate), BUFT, was present as Special Guest, while Prof. Dr. Engr. Mohammed Rubaiyat Chowdhury, Dean, Faculty of Apparel Studies, BUFT, attended as Guest of Honor. The event provided students with an important platform to demonstrate their academic and practical capabilities while connecting classroom learning with real-world applications in the apparel sector. The distinguished guests appreciated the students’ innovative initiatives and encouraged them to further develop their skills and creativity to contribute to Bangladesh’s globally significant apparel industry.

The BUFT Institute of Textile and Apparel Research (BITAR) of BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) organized the BUFT Research Excellence Award & Research Profile Book Launching Ceremony 2025 on August 12, 2026, at the university's Multipurpose Hall. Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam, Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, attended as the Chief Guest. Mr. Faruque Hassan, Chairman, Board of Trustees, BUFT, chaired the program, while Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice Chancellor (Designate), BUFT, attended as the Special Guest.

The ceremony recognized outstanding research contributions and academic excellence of BUFT faculty members and researchers. In his address, the Chief Guest emphasized the importance of research and innovation in strengthening higher education and advancing Bangladesh's textile and apparel industry, and appreciated BUFT's initiatives in promoting impactful academic and industry-oriented research. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees and distinguished guests congratulated the award recipients and encouraged the university community to pursue greater excellence in research and innovation. Faculty members and officers of BUFT attended the event. The award is a key BITAR initiative to foster a culture of research excellence and contribute to the advancement of textile, apparel, fashion, and related fields.
