About
Umme Magreba Takebira is an proficient
academic professional with extensive experience in the field of Apparel
Manufacturing and Technology. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at
BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) since March 2017. Earlier
to her current role, she worked as a Lecturer at BUFT from September 2013 to
March 2017 and at Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology (SMUCT) in
the Department of Fashion Design & Technology from April 2009 to August
2013. Her research focuses on Microplastics, Apparel Manufacturing, and Smart
Textiles and she actively contributes to curriculum development as a member of
the syllabus and curriculum committee. She specializes in teaching Apparel
Manufacturing, Sewing and Pattern Making and Product Development. She is currently pursuing her PhD at the
University of Rajshahi (RU), focusing on “Sustainable Nano Composite Coating on
Polyester Fabric to Minimize Microplastic Pollution” under the supervision of
Prof. Md. Ibrahim H. Mondal. She holds an MBA in Apparel Merchandising from
BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT). Magreba earned her M.Sc.
and B.Sc. (Textile & Clothing) from Government College of Applied Human
Science (Home Economics College), Dhaka University. She also completed
her H.S.C. in Science from Govt. A. H. College, Bogura, and her S.S.C. in Science
from Bogura Govt. Girls High School.
Magreba is a dedicated researcher specializing in sustainable textile technologies and microplastic pollution mitigation. She has extensively studied the impact of microplastics on the environment and human health, with publications in renowned journals. Magreba has presented her findings at numerous international conferences, including International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA), BCSIR Congress, Bangladesh Chemical Society (BCS) and IEEE events, and contributed to advancements in apparel and environmental sustainability.
