BUFT encourages the admission of foreign students to different programs. If a student fulfills the general admission requirements for the specific program, s/he will apply online along with an application addressed to the Director, International Student's Affairs along with the Official Academic Transcripts issued by the previous institutions.
The Equivalence Committee of BUFT will assess the papers of the student and make an evaluative recommendation. Bangladesh is a warm, hospitable country known for its lush greenery, numerous water streams, and vibrant cultural exhibitions. However, due to the language barrier, many international students may face difficulty in understanding the practices and lifestyles of Bangladeshis. Foreigners will find many in Bangladesh to communicate by using English but still we suggest international students to learn the basics of Bangla language to comfortably communicate with local people.
BUFT's Registrar Office is in the process of creating an introductory Bangla Language program where foreign students can learn basic Bangla language for communications.
Note: If any student seeks assistance for arranging his/her accommodation, the university is ready to do that.
BUFT provides transport facility for the local students from various points of the city to the University. International students can also avail of the facility. Students however are advised to reside at locations nearby the bus stops on BUFT bus service routes.
Dhaka city is one of the most crowded cities in the world. So, the international students should be aware of the transport system and services. Rickshaw is an integral part of Dhaka city. The fares for rickshaw rides are cheaper than most other transport services. However, there is no fixed fare rate for rickshaws. Therefore, it would be wiser to research on the fares before taking any transport service to avoid swindling.
Buses are another cheaper source of traveling. CNG autorickshaws are comparatively costlier but faster than buses and rickshaws. However, they do not follow the meter for the travel fare. There are also other forms of transportation services like Uber and Pathao (riding by bikes hired online) but those are comparatively costlier than all other forms of transport.
Uttara Model Town near the BUFT is a good place to reside. In Uttara there are many food shops and convenient stores. From there, international students can easily buy prepared food or materials for cooking. Daily food items can be purchased almost at the door steps.
BUFT has an On Campus Medical Center where emergency preliminary treatments are provided. For medical support, check DSW section on BUFT website.
