About
Sakhawat Hossain is an accomplished academic in the field of Mathematics with extensive experience in higher education, teaching, and student development. He is currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sciences at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT).
Mr. Hossain earned his second Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Applied Mathematics from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He previously completed his Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Mathematics and Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Mathematics from Jagannath University, building a strong academic foundation in both pure and applied mathematics.
He began his academic career in 2017 as a Lecturer in Mathematics at the European University of Bangladesh (EUB) shortly after completing his first M.Sc. degree. In recognition of his academic excellence and teaching contributions, he was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2021 at the same institution.
In 2022, Mr. Hossain joined BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) as a Lecturer in Mathematics. Owing to his dedication to teaching, research, and academic service, he was promoted to Assistant Professor of Mathematics in 2024.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Hossain has been actively involved in student affairs and university administration. He has served as the Deputy Director of the Directorate of Student Welfare (DSW), where he has played a key role in organizing student development programs, orientation sessions, cultural and sports events, club activities, and student counseling initiatives. He has also served as a Member of the Anti-Drug Committee, contributing to awareness campaigns and initiatives aimed at promoting a safe, healthy, and drug-free campus environment.
His academic interests include Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Modeling, Numerical Analysis, Differential Equations, and their applications in Engineering and Textile Technology. He is committed to fostering analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and research-oriented learning among students while contributing to BUFT's vision of "Excellence Through Education."
