About
Suraiya Shamanti Islam, presently a Lecturer in the department of Fashion Design & Technology at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), gained experience in the industry through working as a Product Designer and Merchandiser at Designtex group prior to her current appointment. She completed her bachelor’s degree from BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) achieving the Dean’s merit list award and is currently pursuing her master’s degree from the same university.
Within her experience in teaching for nearly 1.5 years, she worked as an advisor of Buying Project IV (An international collaborative project on buying in the textile industry between BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) and Saxion University of Applied Science, Netherlands). She has also participated in various workshops enriching her conversance.
Teaching/Research Specialization
Ms. Shamanti is interested in attaining knowledge in the fields of pure fashion design, fashion marketing and history of fashion.
