Sumaiya Shondhi is an accomplished educator and industry professional with a passion for inspiring students in the field of Fashion Design. She currently holds the position of lecturer in the Fashion Design department at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT).

Sumaiya Shondhi completed her M.Sc. from The Wuhan Textile University, Wuhan China in Fashion Art. She is the recipient of the prestigious ‘Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) Scholarship” from The Ministry of Commerce of the People’s Republic of China. She is also completing M.Sc. in Fashion Design from BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT). Sumaiya Shondhi has completed her B.Sc. in Fashion Design & Technology from the then BGMEA Institute of Fashion & Technology (BIFT which is presently known as BUFT).

She joined the BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) in 2017 after working in the fashion industry for a year as an Asst. Merchandiser in DEKKO GROUP. She was served as a guest Faculty in Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC) in fashion design training.

With 9 years of experience in both academia and the industry, they bring a wealth of practical knowledge and expertise to the classroom. Known for their engaging teaching style, she fosters a dynamic learning environment where students are encouraged to explore their creativity, think critically, and challenge conventional boundaries. Their hands-on approach, paired with a deep understanding of the latest industry trends, ensures students are well-equipped for future success. Throughout their career, she has worked with leading organizations, which further enriches their teaching with real-world insights. Students consistently praise their ability to make complex concepts accessible while maintaining a supportive and inclusive atmosphere in the classroom.
