Mahmuda Akter Shathi strenuous
Fashion Educator, currently pursuit as a Lecturer
in the Department of Fashion Studies at BGMEA University of Fashion and
Technology (BUFT) in Dhaka, Bangladesh. She completed her B.Sc. in Fashion
Design & Technology BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT). She hold
a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree
from Zhejiang Sci-Tech University, China,
where she studied under the prestigious Chinese
Government Scholarship (CSC). She has also been awarded a second CSC scholarship to pursue
a Ph.D. program at the same
institution, focusing on cutting-edge research in functional and smart
textiles. Deeply passionate about fashion research, with academic and
professional interests spanning across
Before entering academia, she gained valuable
industry experience working as a Trainee
Merchandiser at Centro-Tex Trading
Office, where she developed practical insights into apparel
production, buyer communication, and merchandising operations. This industry
background enhances her ability to bridge theoretical knowledge with real-world
applications in the classroom.
She was honored
with the Gold Award in the China “Internet Plus” Innovation and
Entrepreneurship Competition, where she presented a project based on sustainable textile innovation and product
development. This achievement highlights my commitment to
sustainability and entrepreneurship in the fashion and textile industry.
My research interests include advanced materials, wearable electronics, functional and smart textiles, with a
particular focus on ECG and pulse rate
monitoring technologies. She is passionate about exploring
interdisciplinary approaches that integrate fashion, technology, and health monitoring systems.
To date, she has
published two SCI-indexed research papers
in internationally recognized journals — Materials
& Design and Synthetic
Metals — contributing to the fields of material science and
intelligent textile systems.
As
an educator her goal is to inspire students through a blend of theoretical
knowledge, industry trends, and forward-looking technologies, preparing them to
become future leaders in the global fashion landscape.
