Ariful Islam currently holds the position of Assistant Professor and Head of Department of Fashion Design and Technology at BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), Bangladesh. Ariful Islam completed his Master of Arts in Fashion Design & Technology from Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology. He also completed 15 ECTS M.Sc. Level. in Corporate Social Responsibility, SRHR and Innovative Leadership form NYENRODE BUSINESS UNIVERSITIET, NETHERLANDES. He has completed “Personal Leadership” Conducted by MDF South Asia Training & Consultancy, Colombo Sri Lanka. He has completed his B.Sc. in Fashion Design & Technology from the then BGMEA Institute of Fashion & Technology in Fashion Design & Technology (BIFT) and presently BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology in Fashion Design & Technology.
Ariful Islam joined the BGMEA University
of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) in 2012 after working in the fashion
industry for several years as a designer in notable Garments Industry such as
Ha-meem Group, Palmal Group. Along with that, he has an active Designer and
Recourse Person in the National community and working with Government projects
such as Joyeeta Foundation under the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs, Jute
Diversification Promotion Centre (JDPC) regarding sustainability in the fashion
industry. Works as National consultant of United Nations Development Programme
(UNDP), Bangladesh.
Teaching/Research Specialization
Ariful
Islam has almost Eight (13) years of experience in the field of industry, teaching
and research. His expertise includes
Product Development, Fashion Illustration, Pattern Making and Design Development. He has great interest in research in the
field of Sustainability in fashion and the CSR Practice in Garments industry
and the social impact of Fashion etc.
