BUFT Holds Freshers' Reception and Orientation for Fall 2026

BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) hosted its Freshers’ Reception and Orientation Program for Fall 2026 on 25 August 2026 at the Abdullah Hil Rakib Auditorium on its Nishatnagar, Turag campus, welcoming newly admitted students from its undergraduate, graduate and diploma programs. The program was attended by university authorities, faculty members, distinguished guests and parents. Mr. Faruque Hassan, Chairman of the BUFT Board of Trustees, chaired the event, while Mr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, was present as the chief guest.

 

Among the distinguished guests were Mr. Mohammed Nasir, Member of the BUFT Board of Trustees; Mr. S. M. Khaled, Managing Director of Snowtex Group; Mr. Md. Shahriar, President of the Bangladesh Packaging & Accessories Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BPAMEA); and Ms. Swapna Bhowmik, BUFT alumna and former Head of Region at Marks & Spencer. Prof. Dr. Eng. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice Chancellor, BUFT; Mr. Md. Rafiquzzaman, Registrar; Mr. Mohammad Imtiaj, Director of Public Relations; and Prof. Dr. Md. Waliul Alam, Director of Students’ Welfare, also addressed the program. Welcoming the new students, the speakers encouraged them to make the most of their university years by developing academic knowledge, professional skills, creativity, leadership and ethical values, while preparing for the evolving demands of the fashion, textile, business and technology industries.

 

A current student and a newly admitted student shared their experiences and expectations. The program also featured the distribution of tree saplings by Snowtex Group, promoting environmental responsibility among the students. The program concluded with a technical orientation session covering key academic and administrative services, including the Deans’ offices, Student Welfare, Public Relations, Controller of Examinations, Accounts, IT, Library, Logistics and Proctor’s Office.

BUFT Organizes Blood Donation Camp on Campus

BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT), in association with the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and BUFT Leo Club, organized a blood donation camp at its campus in Nishatnagar, Turag, on August 25, 2026. The initiative aimed to encourage voluntary blood donation and promote social responsibility among students and employees. The camp was inaugurated by Mr. Faruque Hassan, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), BUFT, and Mr. S. M. Khaled, Managing Director, Snowtex Group. Mr. Mohammed Nasir, Member, BoT, BUFT; Ms. Shwapna Bhowmik, Former Head of Region, Marks & Spencer; Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice Chancellor, BUFT; and Mr. Md. Rafiquzzaman, Registrar, BUFT, were also present.

 

Faculty members, officials, and students participated in the camp and voluntarily donated blood to support patients in need. The initiative reflects BUFT’s continued commitment to humanitarian service and its efforts to foster a culture of compassion, civic responsibility, and community engagement among its students and employees.

BUFT Launches Tree Plantation Program with 5,000 Saplings

BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) organized a tree plantation program on its campus in Nishatnagar, Turag, on August 25, 2026, in line with the government’s emphasis on increasing tree coverage and promoting environmental sustainability. As part of the initiative, Snowtex Group donated 5,000 tree saplings to BUFT. A number of saplings were planted on the university campus by Mr. Faruque Hassan, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT), BUFT, and Mr. S. M. Khaled, Managing Director, Snowtex Group.

 

The program was also attended by Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice Chancellor, BUFT; Ms. Shwapna Bhowmik, Former Head of Region, Marks & Spencer; and Mr. Mohammed Nasir, Member, Board of Trustees, BUFT. The remaining saplings were distributed among BUFT faculty members, officials and students, encouraging them to plant and care for trees at their homes. The initiative seeks to strengthen environmental awareness within the university community and contribute to the government’s broader efforts towards a greener, healthier and more sustainable Bangladesh.
