About the University
BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT) was set up in March 2012 under the Private Universities Act of 2010 and is dedicated to the development of human resources for the readymade garment, textile and allied sectors of Bangladesh. The university aims to establish itself as a ‘center of excellence’ for study, research and development and to serve the nation.

BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology was founded with a goal to establish itself as a "Center-of-Excellence" in higher education and to produce graduates with interfacial skills, competencies and English language skills in order to meet the greater demand of textile and allied sectors of home and abroad emphasizing on innovation and creativity. Since its establishment, we haven't strayed from that vision.

BUFT is the only University in Bangladesh for developing technically competenant human resources for the RMG sector having state of the art laboratory and other resources to cater the need of the students.
The laboratory includes:
A general Computer Lab, internet browsing lab and a dedicated CAD/CAM lab with a network system and internet access.
The Library is constantly being stocked with specialist books and Design, Fashion, Garments Manufacture and Textiles as well as general educational materials.
The Resources Centre is being created in the CEPD (Center for Export & Product Development) where currently produced fabrics, trims and accessories can be seen. This facility will become a source for garment owner's use.
The equipment in Garment Manufacturing Laboratories has been predominately donated by Juki and all the latest machinery is available for student use.
The design Studio and Pattern Cutting Laboratories are available for students to use out with their timetabled classes.
The Textiles Testing Laboratory is a facility which can be used by industry (at a small cost) as well as by all students. Presently all the equipment for shrinkage, abrasion and colour fastness testing is available. This is phase 1 of our development and this facility will enlarge further to encompass all the tests required internationally.
The Knitting laboratory established with machinery donations from industry and will hopefully became a development centre for the knitwear industry with the latest technological machinery available.
The Auditorium will seat 250-300 and has a computerized lighting and sound system, a multimedia projection system, stage and moveable catwalk.
