Business Administration

The department of business administration at BUFT provides training and does scientific research in the field of economics and business administration. Five department councils function within the structure of the department - Apparel Merchandizing, Accounting, Finance, Marketing and Human Resource Management - offering both undergraduate and graduate programs leading to bachelor and master degrees.

The academic staff at the department consists of highly qualified lecturers with proven teaching experience and significant scientific achievements, who have implemented a number of educational, scientific and business-oriented national and international projects and also have publications in in the country and abroad. The department provides state-of-the-art tuition and is carried out in accordance with the guidelines instructed by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh.

The key priority of the department of business studies is to provide training geared towards acquiring practical skills to meet the requirements of employers. The department has established long-term co-operation with financial institutions, companies, sectorial organizations for the implementation of internships, work placements, seminars and joint projects. The practical training and professional development of the students are also furthered by the Centre for Career Development at BUFT.

The atmosphere of cooperation established among the students, the lecturers and the administration is based on and motivated by a reliable feedback. The research and practical business-oriented projects run by the department are implemented with the participation of the students. The department promotes the students’ participation in various contests, conferences and forums organized by universities and institutions and encourages all beneficial initiatives undertaken by its graduates. The students also have the opportunity to become members of the Student Clubs.

MBA IN APPAREL MERCHANDISING PROGRAMS
MBA in Apparel Merchandising (Code: 411)

MBA in Apparel Merchandising is a comprehensive blended learning program that offers the full spectrum of apparel merchandising business and business management education delivered with the flexibility, accessibility and quality that students expect from such a leading blended learning university.

The study area in apparel manufacturing & merchandising delivers fundamental knowledge and insights extending from material design theory via textile manufacturing, textile processing, finishing technologies through to quality management and quality assessment of textile materials. Subjects from the field of business management studies, such as corporate management controlling, logistics, marketing, human resources and leadership theory set the key accents in this program. The curriculum further includes studies in advanced business management theories.

One-year MBA in Apparel Merchandising (Code: 4222)

One-year MBA in Apparel Merchandising & Management is a unique program designed to provide the students with a sound foundation in the technology and managerial aspects of apparel manufacturing.

To acquire one-year MBA degree students have to earn 39 credits from a combination of courses offered by the university.

After successful completion of this program students will be professionally competent to choose their career as Quality Assurance Manager, Sample Room Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Industrial Engineer, Merchandiser, Production Manager, Factory Manager, and Compliance Manager in the RMG sector at home and abroad.

MBA PROGRAMS
MBA Regular (Code: 000)

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) program prepares students by making them capable of serving in the fields of economics and business administration. Four major areas function within the structure of the program - Accounting, Finance, Marketing and Human Resource Management. Students who opt for the program complete an identical basic study stage, and then get the opportunity to choose their major study area.

MBA is a comprehensive blended learning business program that offers the full spectrum of business and management education delivered with the flexibility, accessibility and quality that students expect from such a leading blended learning university. The program develops students’ knowledge, skills and abilities regardless of impediments of time or place and in accordance with international quality standards. The MBA program consists of four academic semesters and a total of 66 credits. It’s a closed-credit program. The degree program is completed with the production of a Master’s Thesis (Dissertation).

MBA Executive (Code: 000)

As an alternative to MBA program, BUFT offers Executive MBA Program with an accelerated learning experience that transforms the world's most promising managers into the next generation of powerful leaders.

Unlike Regular MBA Program, EMBA is tailored to your unique leadership goals and business challenges. Two important components contribute to your personal and professional transformation.

First, a personal case enables you to address a specific challenge in your organization and develop and refine an in-depth strategy and implementation of plans. Second, through one-on-one professional executive education coaching sessions and facilitated team meetings, you will develop a unique leadership style and a personal action plan for ongoing development.

BBA (Code: 401)

The key objective of the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program is to provide training geared towards acquiring practical skills to meet the requirements of employers.   • Standard time to attain the Degree: Four years (eight semesters, six months each)
  • Minimum grade to attain the Degree: 2.50 in a scale of 4.00

Five major areas function within the structure of the program - Apparel Merchandising, Accounting, Finance, Marketing and Human Resource Management. Students who opt for the program complete an identical basic study stage, and then get the opportunity to choose their major study area in the final year.

Subjects from such fields including corporate management controlling, logistics, marketing, human resources and leadership theory set the key accents in this program. The curriculum further includes studies in advanced management theories.

The BBA program consists of eight academic semesters and a total of 132 credits. Each semester is subdivided into modules from the fields of: core courses (finance, accounting, marketing, and human resource management) and others (statistics, humanities and social sciences). In addition, students are offered a total of six non-credits English courses. The degree program is completed with an 8-week internship which the students do in a company or in a bank, followed by the production of a Bachelor's Thesis (Final Year Project, FYP).

Accreditation of the Programs

All programs offered by the department of business administration have been designed as per the clear instruction of the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh, accordingly have been verified and approved by the proper authority nominated by the UGC.
